March 8 & 9, 2013. Probably two of the most unforgettable, historic nights that will be ingrained in my mind forever.

Night one

Seeing Third Party, Mat Zo, Otto Knows, and Alesso once again was even better than the first time. Their sets were longer, so much more involved, it was just so crazy. Alesso, especially, was sooooooo good! I love his mashups and mixes, Adele’s Set Fire to the Rain with Clash?!?!?!? Seriously….WOW. So good. I knew I loved him ;)

Then, the moment we were all waiting for, Swedish House Mafia. Their set was broken up into acts and all three of them PLAYED THE DRUMS ON STAGE!!! That’s definitely something I’ve never seen before and it was AMAZING!! They played all of their big songs, Don’t You Worry Child, Miami 2 Ibiza, Save the World, Leave the World Behind, In the Air….the list goes on.

Night Two

ZEDD. Seriously, HE KILLED HIS SET. Playing everything from CLARITY, Spectrum, Follow You Down, Hourglass, Fall into the Sky, & THE LEGEND OF ZELDA THEME SONG!!! Seriously, crazy. He killed it.

ALESSO. The second time was even better. I was closer, more aware of what was going on, more entranced in the music. It was so good. He played all of my favorites, his and others, Sweet Nothing, CALLING, Hieress of Valentina, Clash mixed with Set Fire to the Rain, CITY OF DREAMS, YEARS?!?! so good. He never gets old.

SHM. Round 2. Again, even better. Everything was so much smoother, less repetitive than the first night, and the lasers and the fireworks and the FIRE seemed even more in sync! Maybe it was the fact that I was closer or the realization that this might be the last time I see them again, but somehow, all of it seemed even better than the first time. Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger, EUPHORIA, SWEET DISPOSITION and Teenage Crime!!! So good. And when it was all over….I was so sad. Ending the whole show with an acoustic version of Don’t You Worry Child seriously made me tear up.

Overall, these two nights were unforgettable. I feel so blessed to be a part of something so historic and so amazing. I know it all sounds so dramatic, but I really feel so lucky to have had this opportunity. The memories that I have from these two nights are some I will hold onto for the rest of my life. Thank you Sebastian Ingosso, Axwell, and Steve Angello and of course my friends for making these past two nights, the best nights of my life. <3

This past Sunday, the LA Times ran an article which was essentially an inflammatory pummeling of the EDM scene. It painted a picture of “Ecstasy-fueled underground” raves, bumped up into the mainstream, leaving a trail of dead, drug-addled kids being picked up by the “…coroner’s wagon rolling…

Now that Swedish House Mafia’s Masquerade Motel is only ONE DAY AWAY, I found it relevant to repost this from one of my favorite DJ’s, Kaskade. I feel like nowadays with EDM going more mainstream and gaining more popularity, it’s amazing to see that some people are so ignorant and close minded about raves and what not. I can only speak for myself when I say that when I go to these events, it’s not about the drugs. It’s about the music, the DJ, the performances, and the company of my friends. I have never taken ecstasy and I have never taken any kind of drug and truth be told, I am usually sober at these events. To think that what events goers choose to do and what goes on at these events is at the fault of those organizing the events and the DJ’s who perform at these events is appalling. It is the events goers choice whether or not they do drugs or anything else and at the end of the day, we are all trying to appreciate the music and the friends we share these moments with. Needless to say, I AM EXCITED FOR THIS WEEKEND.

Two Words: LED ANNIVERSARY.

The night I finally got to see one of my top three favorite DJ’s in the whole entire world: ALESSO and Morgan Page, Otto Knows, 3LAU, Crookers, Crizzly, MAT ZO and for $35? WHAT A STEAL!

Everyone killed their set, but let me just go out and say that Alesso’s set was probably one of the most amazing, BEST, sickest sets I have ever heard in my life and when he mixed in Adele?!?! I almost lost my mind ;)

Honestly, probably one of the best nights of my life. AMAZING music, fantastic company, and an unforgettable experience.

2013 will definitely be a year when all the lights will all appear. ;)
